Thanks Igor. I hadn't realised this because I had only read the
documentation for bnfclgp and bnfclassunit (which I won't repeat in its
entireity but which ends with

P may also be a non-zero integer, and is then 
considered as the discriminant of a quadratic order. )

So I had thought that I was OK. I know nothing of the internal
workings of gp so don't really know which functions call which
other functions. Still, all the warnings should have given me
a hint :)
