A commented version of the documentation source? |
Hello. I'm new to pari. I am planning on having my cryptography students use Pari-GP next semester as a "desk calculator" to try out some basic algorithms. The only problem I forsee is that the manual comes as one giant postscript file, which makes it a bit difficult to use. Ilya Zakharevich informed me that there is a version of the manual in IPF format. However, I have not been able to find a reader for that format that runs under UNIX. My idea is to convert the manual to Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format and add hyperlinks. I have already verified that when the manual is run through 'pdftex' instead of 'tex', a very nice pdf document is produced. (I can make that available if anybody wants it.) What I would like to do is make some changes to the cross referencing and indexing macros so that pdftex will generate hyperlinks, bookmarks, etc. For this, it would be most helpful if there were a version of the file parimacro.tex with some explanatory comments. Does such a version exist? Lacking that, could you put me in touch with the person who wrote the macros? I've never done anything with hyperlinks before, so it may take me awhile to create something acceptable. However, I am reasonably good at TeX, so I think I can manage this. I would, of course, be happy to share the result with whomever wants it. Thanks for your help. --cliff bergman P.S. I do not subscribe to this list, so please contact me directly.
