No, it is unrelated. In fact what compiler do you use ? It looks like a bug in gcc-2.96. I have just tested gcc-3.2 and every work fine. The Debian package for PARI/GP 2.1.4 explicitly build with gcc-3.0 to avoid bugs in gcc-2.96 on ia64. Cheers Bill.
