performance comparison |
Hi, Here're 2 new entries for MACHINES file: PentiumIII 1400MHz FreeBSD-4.6.2 gcc-2.95.3 752 757 2.2.5 IS PentiumIII 1133MHz Linux-2.4.18 gcc-2.96 1028 1055 2.2.5 IS The difference in gp performance is greater than one can expect from the clock difference. The first machine is SMP and has 512KB L2 cache, the second one is UP and has 256KB L2 cache. And of course one is FreeBSD, the other is Linux. I wonder which of these factors is the most important as far as speed goes. Igor
