Dear developers,

Paul Gunnells matdet bug seems to have been fixed in 2.0.17, my 2.0.17 on
a Sparc findd the determinant to be 1 in both cases. Also from the 2.0.17
release notes (bug fixes):
  52- typo in det() [forgot to divide by a pivot]
