The stable version version pari-2.1.5 is rather out of date. The file
pari.cfg only exists in the unstable branch 2.2.*.

I have never seen that one.

1) Which version of gcc is this ?

2) Does is succeed in compiling some other code modules than mp.c ?
[ e.g. make -k gp ]

3) Can you download the most recent CVS version, e.g from

 http://pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/pari/pari.tar.gz?tarball=1

and check whether the same problem occurs [ it probably does :-( ]
