Re: Pari/GP hanging on tests


Sorry to bother you all - it turned out to be a distribution (Ubuntu) problem - as indeed is flagged in the Pari/GP installation document: even though I'd installed libreadline-dev, I hadn't installed libnurses-dev; this last had not been automatically installed with readline.  I bunged it in, recompiled (with --tune), and it all worked perfectly.

I would suggest first to retry without using --tune. This is the most likely
case of failure (Be sure to rename Olinux-x86_64 to something else before,
as it contains the offending tune.h file.

Other wise you can try
./Configure --kernel=none-none
Jand see
whether
make test-kernel
work better.
