Member function change in 2.4.x?

Hello.

When I type:
d.1=d[1]
x=[1,2,3]
x.1
into version 2.3.4 I get the expected answer 1.

However, in version 2.4.3 I get the message 'unused characters' positioned over the point (dot in 'x.1').

Is this point notation not upward compatible?
