No. Granted, it is cute and easy to implement, but

1) it is a bit of a hack: it would only work for immediate constants (like
the integer 2 above). No way to have a x --> a*x since it might equally well
refer to the variable 'ax'

2) it is a minor backward incompatibility: 2e curently stands for 2.e0, i.e

This is not possible in a window manager-independant way. I.e. a lot of effort
for a (IMHO) rather minor gain.
