The new Obsolete field registers what existing documentation says
about the function. If the documentation says "don't use this function"
in some form or other, then you get the Obsolete tag.

I agree that elllseries should be deprecated, but the documentation
doesn't say so. Please fix the documentation to that effect, then (or at
the same time) we can add the Obsolete tag.
